Dear Sir/Madam,
As a government representative of the people of
this great country, we are asking you to review the enclosed
documentary entitled "I Can't Marry You". The film is
about the topic of marriage for gay citizens of the United States,
and reveals the stories of twenty long term (10-55 years) couples.
The film is narrated by Betty DeGeneres, mother
of talk show host and comedian, Ellen DeGeneres. It has aired in
more than 60 cities on PBS stations in the U.S. this past June-
with sponsoring by Olivia, Genre and RSVP. We have experienced overwhelmingly
positive feedback from the viewers. Also, requests for copies
have come in from Fortune 500 companies and churches, as well as
entities such as the Anti-Defamation League at the U.N.
I am writing this letter on behalf of my 15-30
million gay brothers and sisters in America, and organizations that
support this film, such as Marriage Equality, Freedom to Marry,
and the Human Rights Campaign.
Please watch this film, that perhaps will reveal
a side of gay relationships that you had not considered or been
exposed to in the past.
As producer and director of this film, and a Gay
American myself, I implore you to open your mind and your conscience
by viewing this film before making decisions regarding this issue,
including the "Federal Marriage Amendment".
Thank you in advance for your consideration and
time,
Catherine Gray
Producer/Director
I Can't Marry You
Thanks, Catherine. I have to admit, your film
sparked a dialog in my own home last night that was really insightful.
Again, I can't say enough about your gentle approach and how it
fosters a non-defensive response. True story-telling!
Please stay in touch and let us know how we may be of assistance.
